EAST CARSON RIVER
June 27, 2013, this evening, I decided to fish the East Carson River the flows are good and the water is clear. I started dry fly fishing when the shadows started covering the river. The fish were active in the riffle areas. I caught most of the fish using Blonde Wulff and Light Cahill. I fished for about 1½ hours and netted 10 fish. They were a little on the small size, however, it was a great evening.

CARSON RIVER, DAYTON, NEVADA
October 5, 2012 on this morning, I decided to go Smallmouth fishing on the Carson River in Dayton, NV. I heard that there were large Smallmouth Bass in this area. I walked the river to located an area where there might be some Smallmouth’s , I started fishing and start hitting Smallmouth’s right away I moved to other areas, however, this spot had the most action. I returned to the spot and caught several Smallmouth’s, they were somewhat small but a lot of fun. The video is longer (8.5 minutes), because I kept catching fish. This is on my list to get the big one.

QUEST WITH A SIZE 32
My quest on September 27, 2012, was to catch a trout with a dry fly on a size 32 hook. Since this was the smallest hook made, I always wondered why this small of hook was made. It was hard enough to tie a fly on a size 32 hook, it but to catch a fish that is another story. This will be my third time trying this, my first time was in Oregon on the Fall River, and I lost the fly on the first cast. I tried on September 20, 2012 on the Carson River and only had a couple of hits that I could feel. I returned a week later with more flies to try again. What I learned was you need calm water and you have to keep minding your line to prevent drag. I was successful and caught three Browns on size 32 flies and a6t the end I caught one Rainbow on a size 22 fly. As you watch the video, I lost the first hookup the tippet broke, I used 7X, the next two are Browns on size 32 and the last is the Rainbow on a size 22.
CARSON RIVER, CARSON CITY, NEVADA
July 13, 2012 on this morning, I decided to go Carp fishing in the Carson River in Carson City, NV. This section of the river is not fished much in the summer because of low and warm water, the Nevada Department of Wildlife stocks this portion of the river in the spring. I walked the river to locate pools where the carp would hold up. I saw some carp cursing the river but they were not holding up anywhere. I fished along the banks and was able to catch a Bluegill and a Small Mouth Bass. As I was leaving, I found a deep pool that had several fish in it. I fished it but considering it was noon, they were not very active. I will return.
EAST CARSON RIVER
June 29, 2012 this evening, I decided to fish the East Carson River the flows are good and the water is clear. I started nymph fishing first, I had a couple of strong hookups but I could not keep them on. I switched to dry flies parachute-style that is when I start catching browns, it was very steady. In the past, the river would have a caddis migration just before it would get to dark to fish, the migration started happening, so I switch to a Goddard Caddis and I was able to catch a couple more. It was a great evening 10 Browns and 2 Rainbows. Hope you enjoy the video; I even had some fun walking back to the truck. Pictures of the flies used are at the end of the video.
